Restore previous version
Hi everyone!
How can I restore a previous version of Firefox on my Galaxy J4+? I tried to follow instructions that started with "in search box type: about:preferences#advanced". That didn't work.
I also opened http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/83.0/win32/ I don't know which version I had before this one, in which the search bar is at the bottom. I just figured 83 was far back enough! But the .exe file I downloaded could no be opened by my phone.
Below is the current version: (I hate this version. So sad. Firefox was excellent. But if I can restore a previous version, that would be great.) 86.1.1 (Build #2015794881) AC: 72.0.16, f4aa67a9c GV: 86.0-20210222142601 AS: 67.2.0
Thank you for your help!!! Mabel

Hi
You can download Firefox for Android from the Google Play store - it will have the search bar at the bottom of the screen by default.
Hi, I meant the version with the search bar at the bottom is terrible.
Thank you for trying to help, though.
You can move the toolbar to the top of the screen. If you open the Firefox for Android menu, select Settings and Customise, you will see the option to move the toolbar.
Hi, I mentioned the search bar for reference to identify the current version, but it was a bad idea using it as reference. So. But thank you for your suggestion! I don't like this version for several reasons. At this point all I really want is to restore a previous version of Firefox. Perhaps you know how to do that?

The http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/ is for the Desktop version for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. None of these will work on any Android OS. What you tried to install was a 32-bit version for Windows.
The Android versions of Firefox used to be listed .../pub/mobile/ folder but they are old with last listed at Fx 68.11.0
Current Release and Beta builds of Firefox for Android are at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases
Manual installs may not get updated this way though.

Thank you James. I opened https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases. Any suggestions on what I could do now to get a version older than the one I have. I guess 85 would be fine. I'm pretty lost. Any additional help is appreciated. Thanks, Mabel
Hi
You can download version 85 from https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases/tag/v85.1.2 (you will need to install the .apk file for your device).
Please appreciate that this is not recommended. Aside from the app being an old version (that may automatically update anyway), you will need to disable a security feature on your device to allow for the installation of applications outside of the Google Play store - something that protects your device.
