Dear community,

Thunderbird 78.8.1 from Kubuntu 20.04 fails to import the following event.ics file with the error message:

"Cannot import from /media/sdb/event.ics. There are no importable items in this file."

BEGIN: event.ics

Im Webcast am 27.5. um 11:00 Uhr zeigt Ihnen ein Hacker, wie Kriminelle dabei vorgehen und wie Unternehmen sich vor dieser Gefahr schützen können – mit Live-Demo!. SUMMARY:Ein Hacker erklärt: Jagd auf privilegierte Accounts (On-Prem & Cloud) URL:https://business-services.heise.de/security/bedrohungen-schwachstellen/beitrag/ein-hacker-erklaert-jagd-auf-privilegierte-accounts-on-prem-cloud-4040?mlog=1&no_cache=1 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR

END: event.ics

I can't see any problem within the file.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Best regards, Rainer

Chosen solution

The problem is solved! The respective ics-file was build with mac-style line endings (only CR). After conversion with

dos2unix -c mac < event.ics > event-fixed.ics

the new event-fixed.ics file can be imported without problems.

Nevertheless a somehow smarter import algorithm, which does not fail on line endings, would be nice.

(BTW: Nextcloud calendar import has the same problem.)
