Did Firefox really changed their logo (or fox will be gone in nearby future)?

Getting Started Page Check the icon in tab header and logo. It is new logo replacing the old Firefox logo. Firefox is no doubt my first preference but without fox it feels different (fox is heart of this browser).

The more abstract logo is the Mozilla company logo. The Firefox product logo/icon still has the fox.

There was a blog post a while back after a rumor campaign about the logo:
