cannot search and cannot access settings and not load any help websites in firefox

Hey dear Firefox community,

The issue is concerning Firefox on Windows 10. I'm using Firefox Version 85.0.2 I recently deinstalled a program called Jami. Afterwards I was not able to open Firefox anymore. Apparentely a .dll file was missing. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice according to suggestions I found from the support moz://a community.

Now I can open Firefox but cannot search for anything in the internet nor can I load any help pages or my settings, add-ons or adjust my account. It looks like I can only access about:support. Everything else is not accessable for me and it shows an empty page and/or does not open a new page. When I try to search for something, Firefox suggests me webpages from my history, but as I said I cannot access them.

I am quite lost and have searched and tried out a lot, but don't know what to do anymore. Thank you so much for your help! -Jo

Chosen solution

Was the missing file VCRUNTIME140_1.dll ?

In my case, I reinstalled the latest VC Runtime packages from Microsoft (after reinstalling Firefox as you did) and that brought Firefox back to life.

Hey, thanks for your suggestion. I don't quite recall the name of the .dll file but it seems like it has been this one, because I just tried out what you suggested to install and it did work after I rebooted my computer!

Awesome! Thank you so much! (+:
