Are you running Windows, Mac, or Linux? Do you know the version of Firefox?

Windows: 

Start Button->Run and type firefox safe mode

Mac or Linux: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode
