Remove categories from tasks

In Thunderbird, when I go to the task tab and create a new Task. I can select a category or add a new category. Currently my Thunderbird installation shows dozens of Categories but I only use about 5 of them. I have also accidentally created Categories that I won't use. So I would like to clean up the list of unused categories.

How can I remove a *task* category?

Options/General/Calendar, Categories, there is a Delete button.
