Thunderbird shows code instead of message when forwarding

Then I try to forward a message, the recipient get a bunch of gibberish. (See screen shot.) I can't find any settings to turn off that data. Suggestions?

Set View/Headers to Normal; press Alt if the View menu is hidden.
