When I restarted my computer today, TB had updated itself to 78.5.1. It appears that most things are working though immediately I noticed that when I tried to send an email to someone who is in my address book the auto fill did not occur.

I double checked and the Addressing settings are: Checked -Local Address Books Unchecked-Directory Server Checked-Automatically add outgoing... Default startup is -All Address Books.

When I open Address Books, all my Address books are listed on the left but each one of them shows ZERO entries.

I would GREATLY appreciate any help in resolving this.

Thank you.

The auto complete and the zero contents of the Address Books were a problem before I tried Card Book.

After I tried Card Book, it asked me which of the several address books listed it should import and it would only let me select one at a time. So I selected the Personal Address Book, my main one. When I clicked on the Card Book icon on the upper right hand side of the TB window, it showed me my address book entries there in the Card Book tab (along with the gmail Contact List, which I did not know it would immediately try to synchronize with, which I did NOT want.) But still when I clicked on the TB Address Book icon, all the address books were listed but still Zero contacts.

So tried starting TB with ALL Add Ons disabled. And the Personal Address Book contact entries did show up in the TB Address Book list. So I uninstalled all my Add Ons (I only had 3 besides Card Book, ImportExportToolsNG, Manually Sort Folders and Provider), I then reinstalled each Add On one by one (omitting Card Book), checking my Address book each time. The Personal Address Book seems to be back and the auto fill seems to be working. I am not sure why any of the add-ons would have interfered as they were all the latest versions, the same as the ones that I reinstalled.

Since this has stretched my tech capabilities almost to their limits, your assistance has been most appreciated.

Is an Add-on now necessary with version 78 and the Address Book no longer just a part of Thunderbird?

I am trying the Add-on and whilst it does automatically fill in addresses now when addressing an email, when I click Address Book on the main Thunderbird screen, there is still a list of address books on the left and ZERO entries in any of them including the ones in had CardAdd deal with.

No, but if you use Card Book and it's not the latest version, 54.6, the add-on breaks autocomplete.

If you don't have Card Book, there may be another add-on causing it. Help/Restart with add-ons disabled to test.
