thanks for your answer, Matt ; but it did not work ; that's why, i uninstalled thunderbird with revo uninstaller, then reinstalled ; incoming mail does arrive on my gmail mailbox, but no longer on thunderbird; i checked the incoming servers: imap.gmail.com ok; but often thunderbird asks me to "change my server password imap ???" ;also, no mail sending possible, tb tells me: "unknown stmp.gmail.com outgoing server"; I checked in the settings of the TB account: everything is ok ; finally I lost all my messages, local folders and address books from my old TB version! can you still help me please thank you

Your server settings look good. Please explain what this background task thing is all about.

There's a mismatch between the Troubleshooting Information and the 1st screenshot. Can you explain that?

Gmail requires OAuth2 authentication, so this is what you should use. You do not need to set up 2-step authentication for Thunderbird to work with Gmail, but it's a recommended security measure. The second factor typically is a one time code generated by an authenticator app on your phone. Follow the instructions provided by Google. Wrt the passwords, enter your Google account password when being prompted for it.

Yes, you'll have to set the Authentication type to OAuth2 for the Outgoing Server (SMTP) as well.

I'm not sure what that means. The Outgoing Server (SMTP) is at the bottom left pane of the Account Settings window. Select the SNMP server for your Gmail account - Edit.

The server name is smtp.gmail.com, not stmp.gmail.com.
