When I try to open/access my Thunderbird email account, a Yahoo pop up comes on. I can not get rid of the pop up nor I can send or receive emails

Is the window asking you to allow TB to manage your email and to enter the account password? That is probably the OAuth2 authentication process that is performed for Yahoo accounts when TB is updated to 78.4.
