How To Apply Globally | Format - Page Color and Background | Advanced Editor

Is there any way where I can set the "Page Colors and Background" properties globally?
Currently, it is per message. While composing a message, this can be done through: Menu->Format->Page Colors and Background->Advanced Edit as shown in the attached screenshots.
However, it is per message and has to be applied every time for each new message. Please help to make these settings global so that it is applied to all new messages automatically.
In specific, I want to add the property "width" with a value of "720px", under Advanced Property Editor and make this setting global.

Quick workaround which I do use for certain emails. You could create the settings as shown in the image you posted and then save the empty email as a template in the 'Templates' folder. In the 'Templates' folder, double click on the template email in the list to open in a new Write message window. Templates are usually easier to locate if you put something in the 'subject' line, which you would obviously need to change when you use the template email.
I am still looking for a solution. Any solution other than saving a templates?
why would you be rude enough to want to dictate the width that others read your email at. In a full screen tab I have significantly more that a pint sized 720px to read in. More than a couple of deliberately cramped emails like that from an address would lead me to just block the sender. A lot can be determined about the sender from the way they force me to read their emails. Likewise I have issues with the use of tables to force layout in anything but advertisements and newsletters.

Just a custom requirement for a specific set of technical e-Mails. This is not for general e-Mail purpose. I usually write plain text email and the mailnews.wraplength of 72 chars, works like a charm. But some recipients have some version of outlook that removes extra line breaks. I am trying to get this auto wrap behavior in HTML where I use a small sized fixed-wdith font and approximate each char to 10px thereby 720px for 72 chars (approximately). This format hack is working fine, but I had to set it every-time.

This seems to be good idea! Never knew all these features of Thunderbird. Have always been a plain text user. Thanks a lot for the trick.
