restoring messages and folders after a mother board failure

I had a mother board fail. Got a new Dell laptop. Loaded Thunderbird and attempted to restore my folders and messages using the Profile instructions given by the community. I am trying to use the Profile on the SSD drive which was the main storage device on the computer that failed. I've tried several methods of copying the Profile to the new machine. No Joy. The particulars are Dell inspirion 3580, W10 home TB 78.1.0. HELP Please!! Of course I did not have the good sense to back up the profile.

List step by step how you attempted restoring them, and a link to the instructions you followed. There's only one copying method that works for me each time, i.e open the current profile folder, Quit Tbird then empty that folder (delete everything in it). Open the old profile folder, copy everything in it and paste them into the new profile folder, then launch Tbird.
