Automatically installed 79.0 on my MAC. Now there are no search engines and the box to set a default engine does not work. Also, I cannot add any search engines in the one click search box.

Try to rename/remove search.json.mozlz4 in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
