Upgrade to 78.0.1 - profiles.ini on NAS is not working
I have been a Mozilla user since its inception. I use Thunderbird for my mail email client and have always used remote folders when are on my NAS for ease of backup. My Bird updated last night to 78.0.1 and when I went to my office this am it asked me to make a new account, like it was a fresh install. I checked my paths in the profiles.ini .. nothing had changed .. folder was good .. tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird. I have tried everything in my ability to get the email accounts ( many of them ) and folder structure back on thunderbird. It is 15 years of client emails in hundreds of folders . Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

GOT IT !!! prefs.js file ( root of the profile folder ) was being overwritten and was overwritten from the hop. This gives all the structure and addys for email. In my orig on the NAS there are actually 2 of them prefs.js and pref-1.js ( dated the day of the upgrade ). Moved the prefs-2 to the local profile root .. renamed the local prefs.js to old .. the transferred one to prefs.js and there is my structure back and 15 years of emails !!

I had posted some questions in the other topic, which are mostly answered by your posting above except this .... you have a backup, right? If not, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile
Going on from there:
- Is the file share NFS, CIFS or samba? (probably the later if you are on windows)
- There are no recent bug reports related to version 78. However, have a look at this old report https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1612414
- I have a NAS at home where I can test but it may be the weekend before I have results
In the interim, if the bug report is not helpful, can you copy the profile to a local drive?
Thank you for your reply Wayne ... the Nas uses an XFS file system. .. It is a Buffalo LS-WVL70E ... I have also tried to move it local but no joy, same outcome. The Odd thing that is happening is that even though I have changed the path in the profiles.ini .. it still ONLY shows the dummy account I set up in order to make the file system and get by the first "create an account"
Are there different sports now for the profiles.ini ? I've been doing it in appdata/roaming/thunderbird .. I have used the exact same folder path to my NAS for many years and many formats and re-installs ... not sure why overnight it took the wrong pill and ended up at the wrong door in the Matrix.
I have renamed the profile0 to something different every time so I know I am choosing the right path.

PS .. Ill be out at 1 CST today for a week ... Ill carry on when I get back unless I have an epiphany today lol
for instance .. even this am ... removed Thunderbird ... did a reinstall ... set up 1 account so that it makes the file structure in roaming ... then went in and moved all contents from my old profile into the new one that was created with this fresh install ... open Thunderbird and Boom ... only the first account I did to create the structure is there .. not my 8 or so email accounts and 100's of folders ... arrrrrrg ... maybe I'm missing soemthing here.
