All mail accounts will have their own set of default folders. Pop accounts will use a default set provided by Thunderbird. Imap accounts will have a default set of folders as dictated by the relevant server. In addition, all accounts can have new folders created by the user.
'Local Folders' is a special default account in Thunderbird. It cannot be deleted. It contains some default folders. All accounts in Thunderbird are designed to use the 'Outbox' in 'Local Folders' account, if any account uses 'Send Later' option. So 'Outbox' cannot be deleted. If any email stored in 'Local Folders' gets deleted then it will auto use the 'Local Folders' Trash folder because emails in 'Local Folders' are independent of any server.
'Local Folders' mail account can also be used by Pop mail accounts that have been set up as deferred accounts (also commonly known as Global Inbox accounts). In which case, the pop accounts do not have their own set of folders, they all use the default set provided by Thunderbird displayed in 'Local Folders' mail account.
Local Folders can also be used as local storage for fully downloaded copies of emails. Especially, useful for those with imap accounts who need to release space on server to increase quota.
that is an interesting explanation. this is what this software is like. what I/we wish, there is a lack of an option to select wanted futures and the software is so large that it should provide such an opportunity. in windows live mail I didn't have a trashbox in local folders. mails which were ...ejected came to this only one trashbox under the account and this was good. this forum is not only to clarify certain matters, but first of all to pass all remarks of all users to TB makers who should to be open to users' desires, and thus to improve this software. this also applies to, for example, when tb opens =tb does not open direct with inbox which we miss a lot. once I sent my text about this wish -no reaction about it.
Thunderbird should remember the last session and use it when started up. So if you were viewing the Inbox and closed Thunderbird, then it should open on the Inbox the next time it is started. This has always worked for me. However, if you have programs installed that perform 'cleanup' operations such as CCLeaner or some Anti-virus packages, then you should make sure they do not have any access to Thunderbird profile folders or files because they cause problems like deleting session files.
1.once i sent here my text about it- what I need is this - I did not close last mail or anything like options etc, the software keeps it when I open tb- I don't like it and don't need that way. its realy not welcome this way. i /we need this possibility- when i open tb it should go directly to inbox and this is not possible..it was in wlm and i miss it a lot... 2. pls read also my text about last mail inbox list- when i close the last mail in mails list and there is another mail above in this list - what i mean is this- i delete last mail from this list where 2 mails still are..the system does not go to inbox list but to the last mail from these 2 ..the system opens it..do u follow me? this also should be fixed it...
