Firefox is it's own browser and Safari is not involved. Just like Chrome and Edge are their own browsers.

Are you referring to desktop Firefox on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux or Firefox on say iOS like iPhone/iPad ?

The Firefox for iOS is more of a shell as it does not use the Gecko rendering and JavaScript engines that Firefox for Android and desktop uses thanks to Apple's restrictions on what can be used.
