My contacts are disappearing without a reason
I've synced two gmail accounts in my TB and I noticed that the contacts that I'm saving disappear suddenly and I've to re-add them again. Is there a bug that's causing this?
Chosen solution
If the address book is corrupted, it doesn't accept changes or additions. See if rebuilding it makes any difference:
1) In Address Book, select Personal Address Book, then Tools/Export, Save as type: LDIF, name the LDIF file.
2) Select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder to open the profile folder, close TB, delete or rename abook.mab.
3) Restart TB, Tools/Import...Address books...Text file...select the LDIF file from 1).
4) In Address Book, select the imported address book in the left pane, then select all the contacts in the right pane (Ctrl-A) and drag them onto the Personal Address Book icon.
Changes to PAB should now be retained. For other address books, export to LDIF, delete the address book, then import the LDIF.

Is this happening with an address book synced with gmail contacts, or a regular, non-LDAP, address book?

It's happening with the regular address book.

Can I delete the address book that resulted from step1?
Personal Address Book can't be deleted from within TB, but when you close TB and delete abook.mab, that deletes PAB. When TB is restarted, a new, empty PAB is created automatically. If you don't have any contacts in PAB worth keeping, just delete abook.mab and restart TB, without the export/import steps.
I am having a similar problem. After latest update, addresses that I use frequently are randomly disappearing. I can add them again, but that is not really a solution. Worse, when the address is deleted, it then frequently tags any emails from that person as Spam and I never see them. I pulled my '.Thunderbird' file from a backup and the address book seems to be complete again, but I have no idea WHY it happened and whether or not it will continue to happen. FWIW, I use MX-19 linux and have been using Thunder bird since it first came out. Currently using 68.6.0 (64-bit)
