I am not receiving notifications of emails. When I maximize the program it shows emails in my inbox but I do not get a notification when they arrive

I am looking for an incredimail replacement. I have 3 accounts. It looks like TB is not retrieving mail until I maximize the program. When I leave it minimized on task bar nothing seems to be happening. The activity manager shows no activity while it has been minimized and there is not notification of emails. There must be something I am missing in a setup choice. I have my accounts set up to check every 5 minutes. I have the notifications areas set up in TB How do I get notified when an email arrives without having TB maximized on my desktop?

If you aren't seeing the envelope icon in the notification area, check that the icon for TB is set to 'Show icon and notifications' in Control Panel:

There is an add-on to show the number of new messages on the taskbar icon:
