Deleting local calendar folder leads to wiping Exchange calendar > maybe some code could prevent this?

While trying to get Thunderbird Lightning to sync with our Exchange environment, i tried many solutions. While doing so, at one moment i deleted on my local machine the folder with calendar-info, assuming it would only influence my local config. But i now find out it has synced this 'empty calendar' with our companies Exchange environment: all my appointments have gone.

I also heard at least one other colleague ran into this (twice), and i assume this happens to more people. Would be great if the Thunderbird/Lightning code would be able to warn if it finds an big difference between online calendar and local calendar, or empty local calendar...
