worked perfectly for months; since last month (12/2019) TB no longer checks for new mail when it opens. Get messages works fine. server is pop.verizon.net (set to check for new messages at startup). made no other changes recently. windows 8.1 TB 68.3.1

There is a bug with POP accounts not checking at startup, possibly due to Local Folders being set as the Default account.

If you have multiple accounts, does switching the Default, through Account Settings/Account Actions, have any effect? Do you use the manually sort folders add-on? I believe it used to allow Local Folders be set as Default.

OK, I will get msgs manually until the fix arrives. Thanks.

Latest update (to 68.6) contained this defect. Have 2 POP accounts; client does not check either of them on startup. Not the end of the world but unfortunate to have a feature exist for more than a decade, then go away.

I can't tell if the account at the top of the left pane in your picture is underlined or not. There a couple of users who manged to correct the problem by performing simple checks:

Thank you sfhowes for the solution. 1584861#c40 did the trick. I was unaware of the Set Default and apparently had no real need of it until now.

I really appreciate your help!!
