Dictionaries disabled. Can't enable.

This is on Thunderbird 68.2.1 (64-bit) for Linux (Xubuntu 18.04) The additional dictionaries for spell-checking which I have been using for years are disabled and I can't find a way to enable them. I didn't disable them. Rather they appeared disabled by themselves (and work just fine in Firefox). I tried updating them but there seem to be no updates available. I appreciate any indications as to how to activate the dictionaries again. Thanks for reading!

Your dictionaries probably didn't update automatically to the 'webext' versions compatible with TB 68. Download the dictionary xpi file from links on this page, by right-clicking the Download Now button, Save Link as... In TB, Tools/Add-ons/Dictionaries, click the gear icon next to Search, Install add-on from file..., select the xpi file.
