Thunderbird frozen on one inbox page. How do I clear to access all accounts

the screen no longer shows left hand accounts - only the inbox for a hotmail account which has problems in outgoing mail so I no longer use. The top left of the screen has inbox symbol Inbox - address but no X to cancel and closing has no clearing effect.

Sounds like you have turned off the display of the folder pane. 

alt+V then L then F on your keyboard.
