How do I backup old emails in eudora in an old computer and import them into Thunderbird in a new computer?
Not sure what else to add! Both computers work. I expect to look through the settings in eudora for our email providers info, but not sure how to keep the old emails. TIA

OK. I'll install TB 17.x and import. If it is not obvious what the "Thunderbird folder" is, I may be back here. I assume that I can make a copy of the folder on a USB stick and paste it into the same folder on the new computer. Thanks!

There is a recent discussion of importing from Eudora here:

It is probably me, but...... That discussion gave me a headache as it goes into many directions. The info might be there... something about Eudora rescue? but I don't get it. I am going from one computer to another. I Didn't see clearly this issue. Ideally, I need to export existing emails (these go back much farther than those on the providers server) to some kind of file I can take on a USB stick to the new computer, where they can be imported into Thunderbird. If someone could tell me if this can be done without being mixed in with other not relevant issues, I would be grateful.
The OP of that thread found that by installing TB 31 on the computer with Eudora, everything was imported to TB via Tools/Import..., but you may fare better with TB 17. All TB releases.
Once you get the data into TB, you can transfer the Thunderbird folder from the old computer to the new one:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\ seems to be the only folder created. This one?
The Thunderbird folder is explained in the 2nd link in my 2nd reply. The default location is
C:\Users\winusername\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
AppData is hidden by default.
If you manage to import Eudora data into an old version of TB, I suggest you then install TB 60 over the old one (since 60 introduces some new files in the profile), then transfer the Thunderbird folder to the new computer which will have TB 60.
Makes sense! Thanks.
Done! Thank you for your patience. My wife is no longer using Eudora on a Windows 98 computer!
