Thunderbird can't access internet
Hi, I've been using Thunderbird for 15 years and I moved over to Ubuntu 3 years ago and started with Mint. I decided had a go with Ubuntu MATE - I'm fairly sure that after I copied across .thunderbird folder that the email collection work satisfactorily. I have about 30 email accounts mostly GMX accounts and a few outlook accounts. 6 weeks ago my Thunderbird stopped receiving and sending emails. Every few months I copy the whole .thunderbird folder system to a network backup. I've copied an old backup into the .thunderbird folder and still no communication with the outside world, I just get timeouts with both send and receive. I haven't got a firewall installed, I've checked the ports etc. I've removed an email account and re added it. All's well until until the confirm password stage and once again timeout. I can't think of what else to try. Can you help please?

You can respond to your OP and upload screenshots.

Really sorry for troubling you guys, but I was thinking back what it was doing 6 weeks ago, after a good nights sleep I remembered. So I took a look and, doh, there it was in front of me! Changed that setting and Thunderbird is thundering again. It’s too embarrassing to admit what it did, sorry.
But how do I edit or delete a question?
