Cannot delete .eml files in Windoes Professional 2009

By mistake I copied a message in .eml format and then found I cannot delete the saved message. There seem to be several methods described via a Google search but none worked; all I achieved was to make a couple of copies which are similarly undeletable, so now have several saved. (Mickey Mouse/Fantasia and the water-carrying broomsticks!!). My o/s is Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 2009/Office 2013
