Why there is a new logo design?
Why there is new logo? I mean everything seems to go from 3D realistic beautiful icons into 2D terrible soulless ones :( Do people actually like the new one? Is there a chance that the old style will return? It's like going from iOS 6 with Steve Job's realistic inocs to iOS 9 with this dead soulless ones. Also is there a way to return the old icon and style of thunderbird using the latest versions?

I'm sorry to hear you do not like the new design.
Some people will probably like the new flat look as it intends to fit in better with the new Thunderbird overall monochomic flat design. But, others will not like it as there is a huge loss in definition. I'm not certain how this will effect people with poorer eyesight, nor do I know if it was tested on those grounds as there is also a huge loss in contrast. I also have no idea whether it was tested on how the icon appears if significantly reduced in size, does it end up as an indistinguishable blue blob or is it perfectly ok?
For myself, I prefer the old version and feel there is little point in changing something that works perfectly ok.
But I'm sure some will find it a refreshing change.
At the end of the day, fashions come and go all the time :)
So is there a way to return back to the original design?

That is the bug where the new icon was done. You will note that whilst there is dissent over the value of the new icon, it is not being particularly well received.
