Is it possible to backup "remote content" in thunderbird?
Is it?
Chosen solution
As I understand it, there's no straightforward way to save a message with its remote content, unlike if there were just attachments, in which case saving as an eml file includes the attachments.
If you saved a message with remote content as a pdf file, the remote images would be embedded in the pdf. The ImportExportTools add-on has this option, but it's not working in TB 60. The 'MS Print to pdf' in W10 (or any other pdf printer utility) is available.

No, backup remote content, e.g. images displayed in emails
Remote Content is the hidden links etc that are encoded into the email and associated with the images.
That link could be as simple as linking to the source of the image so the image can be displayed.
It could also link to tracking devices etc.
It does not sound like you are interested in the 'Remote Content' as such but more in getting copies of the actual images.
If you want to get a copy of the image itself: Right click on image and use 'Save Image as'.
There are two issues with manually saving the image:
1) Because I want an offline copy of all remote content of the emails (for archival purposes), it will not be in context if saved manually on any location (not saved with the email itself)
2) It is impractical doing this for hundreds of emails.
What I gather from the response is that "It is not possible to archive (save or backup) remote content automatically in thunderbird in context, and within each of their corresponding emails", right?
