Q: POP or IMAP mail account ? Q: If POP, are emails still viewable via webmail account?

Q: what folders were effected?

Q: Did you compact any folders, if no then do not compact just yet?

Q: Do you allow your Anti-virus product to scan Thunderbird on start up or scan incoming emails ?

Check Account Settings: Right click on mail account name in Folder pane and select 'Settings' If POP: select 'Disc Space' select 'don't delete any messages' If IMAP: Select 'synchronisation & Storage' under 'Disc Space' section select 'don't delete any messages' click on 'OK'

Q: Were Account settings all as described above ?

Right click on effected folders and select 'Properties' click on 'Retention Policy' tab select 'Use my account settings' click on 'OK.

Q: Are you certain the emails are being deleted? Q: Does it say anything in 'Activity Manager' about deleting emails ?

Q: Are Folders also deleted ?

Check if folders are out of sync with index. Right click on a folder and select 'Properties' click on 'Repair Folder' button click on 'OK

Do you have any Filters currently running which is only showing a select group of emails ? EG: 'Quick Filter Bar' - make sure nothing is selected. Or a sort which only shows unread mail ?

Thanks Toadhall !

The folder marked 'Local Folders' .. which is seperate from my business email folders, had the 14 day delete option ticked.

So should be all good now !

Thankyou very much !
