cant log on due to password settings
I think this comes from google and they seem to want me to set my google account to accept Thunderbird's less restrictive security policy. I'm not sure any of this is correct and it thurns out there is no simple way to fix my google account. I'm losing interest fast. I have not used Thuderbird for a year, and if i'm correct, something happened at google in that time to lock me out. This was working very well a year ago. tnx

This §ay work but it's more ponderous than I'm willing to undertake. I found a way for Google to copy compact and send it to me for storage.
I've had some strange messages from Google (to the point where I've been forced to discontinue using their Chrome browser altogether, which turned out fine because Firefox is far superior), but I do have successful Thunderbird access to my gmail account. Here are the settings that I'm using in Thunderbird as part of *my* persistent success with gmail:
Google Mail - smtp.gmail.com Port 587 (as is default) Connection security STARTTLS Authentication Normal password
POP mail server is pop.gmail.com port 995 user name (my email address there) Connection security SSL/TLS Authentication method Normal password
