Hi Jerry, I'll help. To turn off auto-updates...

  1. Press the Alt key to show the menu bar.
  2. Then go to Tools > Options.
  3. Open the Advanced panel.
  4. Select the Update tab.
  5. Set it to either Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them or Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)

I have edited your question to remove the multiple duplication of the same words. Apparently you were having difficulty with your keyboard when you posted your question.

next time perhaps type something meaningful into the dialog so the search result you are offered actually contain the information you are looking for.

The answer to your question is contained in this support article from the knowledge base. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/advanced-panel-settings-in-thunderbird

your sarcasm is not appreciated.

I stand corrected. Next time I will just delete your post instead of wasting time trying to make it into something and offer and answer.
