Inbound emails are not readable in the body. Looks like html jumble. View, Message body as, Plain text. Does not change text in emails to readable.

more options

Most of the inbound emails are unreadable with HTML jumble. The content of the email is mixed with unrelated jumbled junk mail content. The menu View, Message body as, Plain text has no effect. Switching to Original HTML or Simple HTML has no effect. Attachments on the inbound email do not appear.

Problems were not corrected by updating to the latest Thunderbird version. I use ESET Nod32 Antivirus. It recently stopped working. It said unprotected. Reloaded the key and ran scan. 136 treats found and cleaned.

Chosen solution

Right click the folder and select properties from the menu. Then click the repair button.

Long term do not allow your anti virus to scan your Thunderbird profile folder. That is the usual cause of the index and data getting out of sync.

Thanks for the solution. How can I prevent ESET Nod32 Antivirus from scanning my thunderbird profile folder when running a "scan computer function" ?
