Trying to help a older friend and he is getting username/password errors. Tried it in my end and same thing. Names and passwords are correct, I tried them on the web version. Various setting were changed. Only thing I can think of is they broke it on their end. Anyone else?

The recommended settings for hughesnet are: incoming IMAP server imap.hughes.net on port 993, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User name = email address; outgoing SMTP server smtp.hughes.net on port 465, SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User name = email address.
