Hi there from Australia;

Im upgrading our corporate Firefox deployment from Firefox ESR52 to 60.2 and moving from CCK2 to group policy. Presently we are experiencing two issues:

1/ The GPO's are linked appropriately to the domain but do not yet appear to be affecting the installed builds of ERS60.2 2/ Some staff are complaining of an error message when starting Firefox namely "Failed to read the configuration file, please contact your administrator". I'm expecting this is referring to the old autoconfig file, but Im not sure how to debug it as there arent any apparent ways to retrieve debug logging to my knowledge.

Thanks in advance Ray

Any advice would be welcome.

I do not know about GPO, but the second part about autoconfig is either that the file isn't found or that Firefox detects errors in the file.

If you do not want to use the autoconfig file then you need to remove the autoconfig.js file that specifies that you want to use this file. You can check the Browser Console for possible errors with the autoconfig file.

Note that Firefox 62.0 release runs the autoconfig file in a sandbox, but Firefox 60 ESR doesn't, so if the affected users run the Firefox 60.1.0 (or 60.2.0) ESR version then this wouldn't apply.
