Suddenly, on OSX 10.10, Thunderbird stopped showing a preview of attachments (Attach/select/Open)

Until last week, when I would attach a file that Thunderbird could open (like a .txt or .png file), Id click on Attach, then select a file from the open finder list and then click on Open. Id then get a preview (miniaturized view) of the file, before finally clicking Select (I think it was--some such named option). That way, I could see if Id selected the right file before attaching. Very handy. Now, the same sequence attaches the file when I click Open, without giving a preview. What caused the change? I didnt update OSX or TB. Is there a way to revert to the old behavior?
