Cannot access web.archive.org with my profile

more options

Okay, I have had a real heck of a time with Firefox today. Normally, everything works great and I have a stable experience. But today was not such a day. I had a real problem today because I could not access web.archive.org at all. Whenever I tried to access any resource under this specific subdomain, nothing would show up. Firefox would not show anything, not even an error message saying that it could not contact the server or whatnot. Just a completely blank page. I can get on web.archive.org on any other browser except Firefox. I saw by checking in the console under the Networking tab that it could indeed reach the server. But it would not render anything.

I thought that perhaps I was facing an issue with one of my extensions or perhaps it was a bug in Firefox itself. So I tried to update to the beta channel (which was 62.0b16). That did nothing to solve the problem, so I tried to update to the nightly channel (which was 63.0a1). This did not solve the problem either, and it actually caused new problems with my extension settings. I only found out why this was happening after the fact by reading these articles: https://www.ghacks.net/2018/08/06/dont-downgrade-firefox-63/ & https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/08/03/new-backend-for-storage-local-api/. I have now had to manually rebuild some of my settings in a slow and frustrating way and I am afraid that perhaps I lost other data. I noticed that my bookmark descriptions are gone, which I now know is part of Firefox 63. Are there other potential data losses which I could be facing right now?

Anyway, back to my main question: why can I not access web.archive.org? I see no reason why this should be happening and I've disabled all my addons just to check if they were causing the problem. I have verified that using a fresh profile can indeed access web.archive.org, but not my profile which I actually use. I suppose that the problem must be in my settings somehow, but I do not know where or why since this is a quite recent phenomenon.

What could normally cause a website to act like this? This is not happening with any other website that I visit.

Hi, actually bookmark tags went in version 61.01 at least started to. We do not deal that much with Beta's and such. Occasionally. So no idea what is going on other than what can google for or if something turns up in one of Mozilla Blogs : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/software/firefox-63-to-get-improved-tracking-protection-that-blocks-in-browser-miners/ When clicking on your link http://web.archive.org/? i see the page just fine, mind you am using Private Mode which sometimes works around page flaws. As to why you can see it i is a cruel quirk. I would guess you have done the usual of cleaning cache and cookies. Sometimes a A/V Program can be the problem on just one page. Avast/AVG has been a pain since the merged and the scanners they are using not tested with Firefox that's for sure. Also Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET and sometimes McAfee as the send their own certificate which is rejected. Sometimes a Clean Install works. Get your Downloads from here as are Full Version Installers :

Well, now I feel incredibly stupid... Of all things, I did not think to clear the cache and cookies for some reason. I only thought to do it after you mentioned it and I just noticed that opening the page in Private Mode worked flawlessly, also as you said. So after clearing my cache and cookies, it works just as it used to. Thank you for the advice!
