I have firefox for android and want to add a search engine.

I am trying to add startpage to my firefox search engines... and i caannot figure out how to do it. The help section tells me to type in the url, long hold on it and tap the magnifier icon.... but there is no magnifier icon. Please help.

Did you try it this way:

  • Long press the search bar in the page.
  • On the bar that appears with PASTE and ADD SEARCH ENGINE, tap that second one.

You can get startpage from http://mycroftproject.com/search-engines.html?name=startpage

You likely want one of the yellow highlighted ones.

Thnks for the quick reply. I am not sure which link would download the startpage search engine into firfox. There are a lot of links....

Depends on your preferred language and preferences. Maybe the one from LaurentD. I don't use startpage so I don't know which one is best.

I tried this... i get a box that says copy address and create shortcut. Nothing about adding seach engine.

I created the shortcut and tried the long press in the app and it worked.
