What's the easiest way of moving email folders from a Pop account to an IMAP account?

Hi, I asked a similar question an hour or so ago but I've changed my mind about how I want to attack the problem. Whether it is correct or not Comcast said I could open a Thunderbird IMAP account that had the same name as my POP account. I'm in the middle of moving all my email folders from the POP In Box to Local Folders (believing they will be accessible to both accounts) but I think there must be some sort of limit on how many folders the Local Folders can handle (because when I drag and drop nothing happens) plus there's always the danger of losing them if my computer crashes. So now I'm looking for the easiest way to move the folders from Local Folders to the In Box for the IMAP account. This is complicated by the fact that both accounts have the same name. What's the best way to handle this? Can it be done in Finder? Thanks.

I had received an e-mail from Comcast requesting that I change my email account from POP to IMAP and then to delete the POP account before September 18 (copy of their e-mail is included below the end of this response) They also advised me to make sure my email folders were moved into the new IMAP account. Somewhere in the directions (or at the advice of someone in a Yahoo Thunderbird group) I was told that I could move my email folders into the Local Folders directly which I started doing until I ran into a situation where I was attempting to drag/drop a folder into Local Folders but it was not landing in Local Folders.

After posting the request for help I realized that there must have been some sort of buffer becoming full that wasn't allowing me to continue moving email folders into the Local Folders directory. After I turned off the computer and turned it back on I was able to continue. But in the meantime I decided to move all my e-mail folders into the In box for the new IMAP account which I am in the process of doing now.

Here's the copy of Comcast's e-mail to me:

Updates to your email settings are needed

We suggest you update your settings to improve the security of your email service. Since you use an email application (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) with a ‘POP’ setting to access your Comcast.net email, you’ll need to update to your email settings by 9/12/18 so you can continue to receive your Comcast.net email through the application.

Here’s how:

Switch from POP to IMAP

We recommend using IMAP for a more consistent way to access your email. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to quickly make this change, and learn more about the differences between POP and IMAP.

Update the POP port setting

If you prefer to use your current POP settings to access your email, then you’ll need to update the Incoming Mail Server Port Number from 110 to 995. Click here and we’ll guide you through making this update.

We understand changes to your settings can be confusing. If you have any questions regarding these updates or about accessing your email, you can click to chat with us.

Please note that no changes are required to continue receiving your email through Xfinity Connect Webmail, Xfinity Connect App, or any email application with updated settings. You can always access your webmail by visiting myxfinity.com.
