Thunderbird refuses to find the settings of a new conto.

Trying to set up a new conto, Thunderbird (on computer) says: "E-mail conto settings couldn't be found" though Mail has no problem with it neither on computer or on iPhone. The message appears already after the first page where you fill in name, e-mail address and password. S Rosander

Sorry, I notice I happened to use the Italian word conto instead of account. S Rosander

When you enter name, email address and password and select to remember password. click on continue' button and you get the message "E-mail conto settings couldn't be found": check the correct 'Server Type' is selected 'pop or Imap' It may have tried to auto find Imap, but if this is not available click on POP option.

If this does not resolve: click on 'Manual Config' button Make sure you have the correct Server Type selected 'Pop' or 'Imap' make sure the User name is full email address - most use the full email address. then enter correct settings and click on 'Re-test' click on 'done' when ok

Thank you! I've several times tried what you propose, and always I get the answer: "Invalid user name or password". I have two older accounts where I use POP. They work OK, there seems to be some disadvantages with POP on the iPhone, so I want to set up an account using IMAP. S Rosander

Thank you! I can receive to and send from webbmail as well as from the client Mail on the computer and on my smartphone. Just Thunderbird fails. I'm afraid we have to close this question (and I to avoid Thunderbird for the account in question). Best regards, S Rosander
