Taking up all my computer memory (disk)
Having problems with laptop having no storage and it turns out Thunderbird is taking up a HUGE amount of memory on it - despite me deleting all content and removing from spam and bin (only keep 6 x months of emails) anyone else have this issue? Looks like its storing up historically - even though its all been deleted.... thanks

Have you compacted your folders to remove all the 'marked as deleted' emails?
It is useful to enable 'Folder Pane columns' enabled to see 'Size' of each folder, then you can observe the effects of compacting a folder.
- Menu icon > Options > Layout > Folder Pane columns
- then enable the 'Size'
see image below.
To compact specific folder:
- Right click on Folder and select 'Compact'
To compact all folders:
- Menu icon > File > Compact folders

Such manual compacts would be needed before 52.9, because automatic compact is broken (that is, if you have automatic compact enabled).
Auto compact will be fixed in 52.9, and it's update 52.9.1.
Thanks so much Wayne and Toad-Hall for your responses and also Toad-Hall for explaining how to do it all in dummy step by step - as I didn't have a clue!
