My Firefox just updated+i can't sign in.I get:"This app can't run on your PC.To find a version 4 your pc,check w/the software publisher."

My Mozilla Firefox just updated itself automatically at midnight EST 7/4-into-7/5 &shut down on it's own. I can Not sign in anymore! I have many important to me windows & I always hit restore session when I sign back on, & they always restore. When I click on the "now white/blank folder new/different" Mozilla Firefox icon I get the following message in a blue box: "THIS APP CAN'T RUN ON YOUR PC. TO FIND A VERSION FOR YOUR PC, CHECK WITH THE SOFTWARE PUBLISHER." I have used Mozilla Firefox for years. It works better 4 me than Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, & AOL Gold. Help, Please!

That's strange, I wonder what happened?

Your Edge browser identified your system as Windows 10, 32-bit. Could you try running the installer for 32-bit Firefox 61? You can download it from this page (scroll down to your preferred language/locale):

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Will the installer run and then will Firefox run?

jscher2000 & Pkshadow, THANK U VERY MUCH 4 your immediately replies & help. I have Malewarebytes Premium & ran several 2 complete scans that found no threats on the 251,000 items scanned. I clicked the mozilla.org/firefox/all linked & run Firefox & re-uploaded it. The icon is the colorful icon. It works & I restored my session of 45 tab items except 4 my mail box! They are all on the top bar where they always are, however none upload when I click them! They appeared & are there however they have somehow died/expired. I even signed off & back on restoring the session & the same thing occurs. I'm allowed to add new tabs & have tried to sign onto my AOL mailbox & it has been spinning for about 10 minutes. I tried another site on a new tab & that is also still spinning. Sorry 4 torturing the 2 of U.

'Pkshadow, Thanks 4 your assistance.

Can you access this support site in a new tab, or is it impossible to load any new pages in Firefox?

For AOL Mail: if a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are some general suggestions to try when it stops working normally:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "Clear Cookies and Site Data"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

jscher2000, I am & have been on this support site on Microsoft edge. I can Not load any new pages in Firefox. I closed it down & reopened half a dozen times & when I click restore session, it loads up the 45 tabs everytime, however none load up when I click them. I also double-clicked & hit restore tab on individual tabs & that does not work. When I hit the facing down ">" which follows the ">" & then the "+"(which adds/opens a new tab), all those tabs & more appear, however, clicking them sends me back 2 the position where they are & does not refresh or open them. Also each time I have shut down Firefox after reloading it via the website U sent me, a box appears with the following: "User Account Control: Do U want to allow this app to make changes to your device?"(Underneath that is): "Firefox. verified publisher: Mozilla Corporation. File origin: Hard drive on this computer. Show more details: Yes. No." Firefox only opens if I click "Yes." If I click No, nothing happens, & nothing opens & there is no message. Again Thanks Much & Sorry 4 torturing U with this. Perhaps I should reload & do what U advised me to do initially, again?

Thanx Much!

JSCHER2000, BIG THANX. IT'S FIXED. After double-clicking the Firefox Icon on the left side of my desktop, & many choices appeared I chose "TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY" & must have chosen the correct choices & it works! Before I would just try OPEN from the Firefox Icon. Before I ever wrote U for help I tried "Troubleshoot Compatibility" with every possible outcome & it did Not help & that same error message would eventually appear. THANX, u r a SAVIOUR & this "m Support" site is/was amazing. I'm Not even sure how I came across it. Happy day after the 4th of July. Have an amazing rest of July & summer!

Hi arcuda, I'm glad to hear Firefox is working now. We generally recommend not to use Windows' backwards compatibility settings, but you can review those again at your leisure.
