outside ads on aol cause the script message to appear and firefox to hangn

When reading messages in aol, various ads show up on the side. Certain ads cause firefox to freeze with the spinning wheel and say, "warning - unresponsvie script". these ads do this repeatedly.

Have you considered using an extension to reduce unwanted ads? Since you have an older version of Firefox, you may find it bit more challenging to find one that is still working, but you could scroll down on the "versions" page until you find one compatible with Firefox 48.
