Opened firefox and found all cookies were gone
I just normally opened firefox and found all cookies were gone. I can't afford this as this even happened once before. Firefox wasn't crashed or I didn't reset or restarted anything. I had "search keywords" stored in cookies on many sites and they all are gone now. Developers need to address this issue as this hasn't happened 1st time only.

Hi pak0s, you might be able to restore an older cookie file (cookies.sqlite database). I don't know how far that would roll you back, but you could give it a try. Here's how (for Windows 7):
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Scroll down to cookies.sqlite, right-click it, and click Properties.
In the Properties dialog, click the Previous Versions tab. This will list copies of the file Windows saved in restore points, which usually are created during monthly updates.
Can you find anything recent? If so:
(A) Select the file and use the Copy button to save the file to a neutral location such as your Desktop or Documents.
(B) Leaving Window Explorer open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Exit
- (menu bar) File > Exit
(C) Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then right-click > Rename your current cookies.sqlite file to something like cookies-old.sqlite.
(D) Move the file you recovered from an old restore point into your live profile folder. If the list is alphabetical, it should appear right next to cookies-old.sqlite so you can confirm everything is in the right place.
Start Firefox back up again. Are your older cookies back?

Hi, sorry is only seems it is you having this issue. Are you running CCleaner ? Or a program that works the same ? If so adjust the program.
Also when clearing cache if fail to remove the tick mark as shown it will delete your cookies :

Yes I do have ccleaner but it wasn't working when this happened. I have installed it few months ago and it gets auto start everytime so I forced switched it off from "msconfig" so there wasn't any issue since then. I was browsing fine then started playing CSGO, came back to browser and everything was gone. The profiles folder %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ is still 500+mb so I don't think ccleaner has removed anything (even if it was working)

Thanks a lot for saving my day. In extension to your answer, I didn't had any windows restore point but when I checked my mozilla firefox profile folder, I saw a file cookies.sqlite.bak which was created on 06-21-2018 (they day when this all happened) and the file cookies.sqlite seems new. So I renamed the cookies.sqlite.bak to cookies.sqlite, reopened my browser and all cookies were there now. I still don't know what software caused this.
