What is FFPortable
I have something called FFPortable installed. It is in the "C:\Users\dforr\AppData\Roaming\FFPortable". How can I remove it as Norton Security is advising that is in attempting illegally access my system over the internet.
Chosen solution
Thank you all. Firefox appears not to be referencing the FFPortable folder and I have gone ahead and deleted it. I have also deleted an "FF" folder which was created at the same time and contains the same sort of data. I have searched but have no FirefoxPoortable folder.
Firefox is working good and am am no longer getting Norton Security errors.

It's related to the Firefox portable edition, which Mozilla does not develop or maintain. If you don't use the Firefox portable edition, then it should be safe to remove it, but you may lose your Firefox data if you do. Use caution.
Thanks Wesley but how do I safely remove it?
You should just be able to navigate to that folder and delete it, but like I said, if your Firefox profile information is in there, you will lose it. Alternatively, Norton should have a Quarantine option.
Hi dforrest, if you did not intentionally install the Firefox Portable program, probably some malware installed it to use it to connect to the web. Which is very troubling.
Does Norton identify the program "using" Portable Firefox? Whatever that is really needs to be cleaned out. You could try to identify that using Microsoft's Process Explorer tool. Unlike the built-in Windows Task Manager, it can show parent-child relationships between programs to help solve mysteries like this.

Also, you could delete the identified folder:
"C:\Users\dforr\AppData\Roaming\FFPortable"
(AppData is a hidden folder, so: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files)
Unless you customized your Firefox install, your Firefox data would be under
"C:\Users\dforr\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla"
So I would not expect any effect on your data.
To confirm that: you can look at the location of your "live" Firefox data on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, check the listed path to make sure it is NOT under FFPortable.

Unless I mis-read what my learned colleague Jefferson postted, Firefox Portable doesn't used any of the Profiles located at "C:\Users\dforr\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla". Firefox Portable uses its own Profile located in the ~\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\ folder, which can be verified by opening about:profiles typed in the URL bar and hitting Enter. That will show you the entire file path to the Profile and show you where Firefox Portable is installed.
Just delete the FirefoxPortable folder where ever it is installed and Firefox Portable will be completely removed.

Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support.
The FF has not been a proper abbreviation for Firefox (as may much newer Firefox users may think) as Mozilla used to state Fx as the proper abbreviation ever since 0.8 when the browser name was changed from the second name Firebird to Firefox as of 0.8 Release.
ex: listed in the FAQ on https://website-archive.mozilla.org/www.mozilla.org/firefox_releasenotes/en-US/firefox/releases/1.0.html
The portable Firefox has been around since as early as Firefox 2.0 days.
