Tbird doesn't recognize Gmail pw when getting messages although Gmail.com does. Why?

This behavior is fairly recent. I have confirmed in Options that the pw I used is correct. If I try to change the password in gmail.com and enter the original password it confirms that the new password is the same as the old one.

Now it doesn't recognize the outgoing SMTP server password either. I have rebooted the computer to no avail. When I try to uninstall Tbird (to reinstall a fresh version) via the Control Panel nothing happens when I click on Uninstall

I should have mentioned I don't have any trouble getting into my msn account (SMTP) once I enter the password and I can access the gmail account through gmail.com, but Tbird doesn't retain the msn password and won't recognize the gmail password. I am operating under Windows 10.
