I have 2 accounts accessed via Thunderbird. The 1st (my personal account) seems to work fine, but the 2nd (wife's) account suffers from disappearing emails. Some emails never arrive, others reach the inbox but then disappear. I have tried deleting the relevant .msf file to rebuild it, I have tried the "Repair folder" option, all with no effect. Checked the account options - same as 1st (working) account. These are both Hotmail accounts - 1 on .com, the other on .co.uk so should behave in the same way.

I'm on Windows 10 (1803) and Tbird 52.8

Chosen solution

Sorted the problem - definitely a Hotmail problem.

In case other people use TBird to access Hotmail/Outlook emails, you might like to know that you must sign in to the account at least once a year, otherwise it is assumed to be unused, and all emails get deleted. This was the problem I was having.

Anyway, all seems to be OK now.

Most issues like you describe track back to another device used to read mail on the account. Most commonly a phone.

It's true I sometimes read email via my tablet, but only my account, not the one with the problems. I'll see what happens if I stop doing so. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have now discovered this problem is nothing to do with TBird. Signed on to Hotmail account on the Outlook website, and watched items in the Inbox disappearing before my eyes! Clearly a Hotmail problem.
