How do I export a mailing list in msg format

more options

I want to export a Thunderbird mailing list to Outlook 2016.

I want to export a Thunderbird mailing list to Outlook 2016.

Chosen solution

Open the Address book window. The command is Tools-Export. Tools is on the Menu Bar. If your Menu Bar is not showing press the alt key to make it appear. When the Menu Bar appears select View-Toolbars and turn your toolbars on. Now do your export. The alt key has made hidden menu bars appear since the beginning of Windows. It is a good shortcut to remember.

Thunderbird exports in a .CSV file. Outlook imports .CSV files.

Thunderbird can export the address book in .csv format but I can't find the command on the tool bar to do it. I seem to remember there is a special way to make the command appear but I have forgotten what it is.

Thanks for your very useful reply which solves my problem. It is a pity that this use of the <alt> key is not documented anywhere I searched. Of course sensible people would just use Thunderbird as their mail agent and so wouldn't need this facility. I use Thunderbird to hold my Probus club's email list and when I leave office I will have to hand the list over to someone else who may be less sensible. Typing 80 emails from a printed list would be a bit much. Thanks again.

The alt key is a Windows shortcut. It is documented on Microsoft websites. It has been around since the beginning of Windows so it is pretty well known.

It is also listed in the Thunderbird shortcuts. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts
