There is no option to create a mailing list. File - New - allows me to create a contact but not a list.
I am using T-Bird 52.7 32 Bit running Windows 7. My email list was migrated from Eudora.
I have several mailing lists that were created in Eudora and they migrated properly. However I am not given any option to create a new mailing list.
I followed your directive - - Go to File and Choose New - and then choose Mailing List. There is no option for Mailing List. It allows me to create a new contact but not a mailing list.
My 2 photos would not upload but I am posting them on my site, so you can see my dilemma.

Try doing it in the Address book window instead of the main window.

Nice try airmail! Whether the address book is open or closed - the result is the same. I am not given an option to create a mailing list. Please view the photo below which proves this.

I wonder if this problem is related to the fact that this is my EUDORA address book that was migrated into Thunderbird.
For some reason, I have 2 different address books listed under FOLDERS. I also have 3 different TRASH folders. I have 2 different IN Boxes and 2 different SENT folders. It's all very confusing.
My main address book window is not nested like the inbox. It's a stand alone window as you can see in this photo.

Something is amiss. I wish I knew what's going on.
Sorry, Mozilla is finally letting me upload and image! Hooray! All is not lost. Here is the scenario. The floating address window is open. And here are my options to create a new input. There is no option to create an email list.
thank you, Dee Greenberg
The forum is funny about if you can post images on the first post.
You keep posting images of your main window. This is totally irrelevant.
In the Main Window click on the button labeled Address Book. Now work in the Address book window. And not the Contact sidebar you keep Posting along with your main window. You need to be in the main address book window.
In the address book window do you have any toolbars? Like the Menu bar with File-Edit-View etc and the Address Book Toolbar with New Contact-New List-Edit etc?
If no Menu Bar press the alt key to make it appear. From the Menu bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbar back on.
And it wasn't a try. :)
OK thank you Airmail! You have renewed my faith in humanity! Sorry if I was a bit snarky . . . . Keep in mind . . . I had been married to Eudora since 1996 - when I got my first computer running Windows 95. She has served me well all these years but sadly we were divorced last year when I found out she was not entirely compatible with Windows 7. :-( Despite all of my best efforts Windows 7 remained stubborn - so I finally had to trade in Eudora for Thunderbird. It's been a rocky 6 months getting used to all the odd quirks inherent in Thunderbird and I pray for the day when I can forget about Eudora completely.
Your prompt and accurate attention to my "mailing list dilemma" has given me renewed hope that perhaps I can finally get over my ex. Perhaps there is life after Eudora after all. :-) And thank God for the ALT key!
Thank you so much!
Not snarky at all. People seem to lose their toolbars all the time. I have no idea how since I have never lost one but it comes up almost weekly. The Menu Bar is hidden by default in most programs these days including Thunderbird so the alt key is a good shortcut to remember. Personally I have turned the menu bar back on in all my Thunderbird windows.
Any operation you do must be with the toolbars in that particular window. Kind of like your car runs out of gas but you cannot find the gas cap so you decide to put gas in someone else's car. No matter how many times you do that your car is still out of gas.
Another good thing to remember when using Thunderbird is Right Click. It would not have helped in this case but many options are available in the Right Click menus.
Come back and ask any questions on the forum. There is a great bunch of volunteers with most of the answers.
Airmail - these are all great tips. Thank you! :-)
