Every time I try to log on to my Thunderbird account, I receive the message: "Connection to server 'pop-server.rochester.rr.com' timed out."

Every time I try to log on to my Thunderbird account, I receive the message: "Connection to server 'pop-server.rochester.rr.com' timed out." If I go directly to the roadrunner site: "mail.twc.com" and put in my email address and password, I can log in. So it seems that the problem lies with "Thunderbird" itself. I thought that if I uninstalled Thunderbird and then reinstalled it, that might solve the problem. However I'm worried that if I uninstall it, I would lose all of the folders that I have created under "Local Folders". Can anyone help me?

Even though you may be able to access your webmail at mail.twc.com doesn't mean pop-server.rochester.rr.com is the same. It may be a different service, under maintenance or maybe it changed recently.

I found this information, it seems you should not be using pop-server.rochester.rr.com:

https://www.timewarnercable.com/en/support/faqs/faqs-internet/e-mailacco/incoming-outgoing-server-addresses.html

I also asked to their support agent online and they confirmed you should be using mail.twc.com servers.

Hi Fabian,

Thanks, the information you sent was helpful, and I will print it out and keep a copy of it for future use. But it seems that my problem has somehow resolved itself.

Thanks again AL
