why does firefox open a tab for markmonitor, and how to prevent it

Every time I start Firefox v58.0.2 64bit the first tab I see is "Registered & protected by MarkMonitor", this "publicity" is very annoying, can anyone tell me how to remove it. Otherwise I think it is time to change to another browser.

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.startup.homepage

What is the value? Right-click and select Reset to restore its default value; about:home

Hi geoff3, for future reference, MarkMonitor is a domain registrar used by large corporations. Your home page setting might have contained an address on a domain managed by MarkMonitor but for some reason, there was no real website for it. No idea how that happened!
