No confirmation dialog on shift-delete in Unified Folders view?!

Hi everybody,

In Thunderbird (v. 52.6.0, 32 bit), when using the "Unified Folders" view I do NOT get a confirmation dialog when deleting messages with Shift-Delete (I DO get a confirmation dialog when using the "All Folders" view, which is - I think - the correct behavior). Is this not showing up of the confirmation dialog a bug? Or is it just a setting I've overlooked?

Thanks! Paul

I'm using :Thunderbird (v. 52.6.0, 32 bit) Put everything into Unified view. I have POP and IMAP accounts. I've just tested Shift-Delete on both pop and imap emails and I get a confirmation in Unified view.

'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab click on 'Config Editor' button I have these values.

  • mail.warn_on_shift_delete; Value = true
  • news.warn_on_delete; Value = true
  • mailnews.confirm.moveFoldersToTrash; Value = true
  • mail.warn_on_delete_from_trash; Value = true
  • mailnews.emptyTrash.dontAskAgain; Value = false
  • mailnews.emptyJunk.dontAskAgain; Value = false

Hi Toad-Hall,

All my accounts use POP. I checked the settings with Config Editor and found one difference: mailnews.emptytrash.dontAskAgain was set to true. I've changed it to false, restarted Thunderbird and "voila": issue solved!

Thanks for your quick and accurate respons and have a nice weekend!

Best regards, Paull

Hi Toad-Hall,

Unfortunately is turns out that the issue is NOT solved. Whether or not the confirmation dialog shows up (in "Unified Folders" view) seems to be quite random. If I ever figure out what the logic behind it is, I'll let you know. For now I suppose I'll have to live with it and no longer use shift-delete to delete messages.

Best regards, Paul
